Best Maternity Photo Locations Near Wesley Chapel, Florida

If you’re looking for the best places to take maternity photos near Wesley Chapel, there are plenty of beautiful options throughout Tampa Bay. You can choose from a relaxed lakeside setting in Wesley Chapel, large oak trees in Safety Harbor, lush greenery in Tampa, or a beach session on the Gulf.

As a Tampa maternity photographer, I don’t think you need to choose a location just because it is popular. The best location is one that fits the type of photos you want, your family’s personality, and how comfortable you want to be during your session.

Here are some of my favorite maternity photo locations near Wesley Chapel and throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Eagle Park in Wesley Chapel

If you want to stay close to home, Eagle Park is one of the most convenient options for families in Wesley Chapel.

Located at 9045 Ivy Stark Blvd, Eagle Park has a relaxed outdoor setting with greenery, open areas, and views around King Lake. The lake and natural surroundings give us opportunities for both family photos and more intimate maternity portraits.

I especially like this type of location for moms who want their session to feel easy and natural. You don’t need a dramatic backdrop to get beautiful maternity photos. Walking together, sitting near the water, letting the kids explore, and simply spending time together can give us plenty to work with.

Eagle Park is a good choice if you want:

• A convenient Wesley Chapel location
• A relaxed outdoor setting
• Maternity photos with young children
• Photos that feel natural rather than heavily posed

If you live in Wesley Chapel and don’t want to spend a lot of time driving for your maternity session, this is a great place to consider.

Philippe Park in Safety Harbor

Philippe Park is one of the best choices if you want a classic Florida setting with lots of greenery and mature trees.

The large oak trees provide beautiful shade and texture, while the park’s location along Old Tampa Bay gives us the option to incorporate water into your photos as well. The combination makes it possible to get several different looks without needing to change locations.

This location works particularly well for maternity photos because the trees create a natural backdrop without distracting from you and your growing belly.

It’s also a great option for families with older children who can walk and explore during the session. We can move through the park rather than asking everyone to stand in one place and smile at the camera.

Choose Philippe Park if you want:

• Large oak trees
• Lots of natural shade

• Maternity photos that don’t feel like a beach session

Philippe Park has also been used for maternity photography by other Tampa Bay photographers, so it is a well-established option for this type of session.

Bonnet Springs Park in Lakeland

Bonnet Springs Park is a little farther from Wesley Chapel, but it is worth considering if you want variety.

The 168-acre park has scenic trails, gardens, open grassy areas, and large oak trees. There are enough different environments throughout the park that your photos don’t all have to look the same.

That makes it especially useful for maternity sessions that include the whole family.

If you’re expecting your first baby, we can keep the focus primarily on you and your partner. If you’re already a mom, having different areas to explore can make the session easier for young children who aren’t interested in standing still for photos.

This 31-acre conservation park has lush tropical vegetation, gardens, walking trails, and boardwalks through the floodplain forest. It was originally established as a botanical garden, and it remains the only botanical garden in Hillsborough County’s park system.

What makes Eureka Springs especially interesting for photography is the variety of textures. Instead of having every photo taken in front of a simple field, we can use greenery, trees, boardwalks, gardens, and the natural water features throughout the area.

The shallow creek and beautiful rock waterfall also give us another backdrop that feels completely different from a typical Tampa park.

This is one of the locations I’d recommend if you want your maternity photos to feel natural and full of greenery without having to go to the beach.

Eureka Springs is a good choice if you want:

• Tropical plants
• Boardwalk photos
• Gardens
• Water and rock features
• A more unique nature setting

It’s also a nice option for motherhood and family photography because there are plenty of opportunities for walking and interacting rather than simply posing.

Upham Beach in St. Pete Beach

If you picture yourself in a flowing maternity dress with your feet in the sand, a beach session may be the right choice for you.

Upham Beach gives us the open space and water that make beach maternity photos so different from sessions at inland parks. The simple background also keeps the attention on you, your partner, and your growing family.

Beach sessions work especially well with long, flowing dresses because the fabric can move naturally with the breeze. Neutral colors, soft blues, creams, whites, and earthy tones also work beautifully against the sand and water.

The biggest thing to consider with a beach maternity session is comfort. Florida can be hot, and standing in direct sun for an extended period isn’t ideal when you’re pregnant. I prefer to plan the session around more comfortable lighting and temperatures rather than asking you to spend your entire session in the middle of the day.

Upham Beach is a good choice if you want:

• Flowing maternity dresses

Aripeka Sandhills Preserve

For something that feels more like natural Florida than a traditional manicured park, consider Aripeka Sandhills Preserve.

The preserve has pine-covered sandhills, dense hardwood areas, and approximately two miles of trails.

The landscape gives maternity photos a more earthy and natural appearance. Instead of a manicured garden or wide-open beach, you’ll have pine trees, sandy paths, and native Florida scenery surrounding you.

I would recommend this location for families who genuinely enjoy being outdoors and don’t mind walking on natural trails.

Aripeka Sandhills is a good choice if you want:

• Earthy, neutral surroundings
• Something different from a typical park
• Outdoor photos with a more adventurous feel

Because this is a natural preserve rather than a manicured park, I’d also consider your comfort level with walking when deciding whether it’s the right choice during pregnancy.

Think about your family.

If you have toddlers who don’t want to sit still, I may recommend a location where we can walk and let them explore. If you want mostly maternity portraits of yourself and your partner, we may choose somewhere with a little more privacy and beautiful natural backdrops.

And if you’re pregnant and simply don’t want to spend an hour walking around in the Florida heat, that matters too.

Your comfort is part of choosing the location.

What Should You Wear for Maternity Photos?

Once you’ve chosen your location, your outfit is usually the next question.

I recommend choosing mom’s outfit first and then coordinating everyone else around it. You don’t need everyone dressed in matching colors. Instead, choose colors and textures that work together.

For outdoor maternity sessions, some easy options include:

• Cream and ivory
• Beige and tan
• Soft brown
• White
• Muted greens
• Soft blues
• Simple floral patterns
• Linen and other natural fabrics

Flowing dresses can work particularly well for beach sessions, while a more fitted dress or casual outfit can look beautiful in a wooded or lakeside location.

Most importantly, wear something you feel comfortable in. If you’re constantly adjusting your outfit or uncomfortable walking in it, that will affect how relaxed you feel in your photos.

What If My Kids Won’t Cooperate?

If you’re bringing children to your maternity session, please don’t feel like they need to behave perfectly.

They probably won’t.

And that’s okay.

I don’t expect young children to stand in one spot, smile at the camera, and cooperate for an entire session. Instead, we’ll give them opportunities to move, play, walk, interact with you, and be themselves.

Some of the best family photographs happen in between the traditional poses.

My job is to guide you through the session so you don’t have to figure out what to do with your hands, where to stand, or how to get everyone looking at the camera.

The goal is for you to enjoy the experience instead of feeling like you have to manage every photograph.

When Should You Take Maternity Photos?

Most moms choose to schedule maternity photos during the later part of pregnancy when their belly is clearly showing, but they are still reasonably comfortable moving around.

There isn’t one perfect week for everyone, though.

If you’re expecting twins, have been feeling uncomfortable, or simply want your photos earlier, you don’t need to wait for a specific point in pregnancy.

The location and weather also matter in Florida. For outdoor sessions, I generally prefer times when the light and temperatures are more comfortable.
